You were injured. You worked on it. It got better. Maybe it never quite went away. Now it is back, nagging at you or sidelining you from the things you like to do. Does your shoulder feel stiff when you wake up or does it wake you at night with a sore ache? Does it grab and hurt painfully when you reach for something? Is shoulder pain limiting your physical activity and has it become your constant companion?
CHRONIC IS COMMON
Chronic shoulder pain affects a huge number of people; about 1 in 20 in 2003. Shoulder pain affects the strength of the entire arm. The lack of flexibility can make dressing and personal grooming difficult. The constant low-level irritation causes mild swelling that results in a decrease in the space inside the joint for structures to move. This causes the structures of the rotator cuff to rub and impinge and the cycle of pain and irritation continues.
